How do you use MT5’s Journal function?
MT5 journal tab displays the logs that have recorded your activities and actions that you carried out in your current session.
Basically, anything you do on MetaTrader 5 will be recorded in the journal section.
Activities include, but are not limited to:
Trades you have made
Network connection and synchronization
Plugin and widget integrations
The journal can be found by clicking on the journal tab in the toolbox.
The logs are displayed in a table with 3 columns:
Time – the time and date the event or action was initiated.
Source – the activity or action type.
Message – the activity’s description.
Depending on the type of log,
Activities are classified into 3 different categories:
Informational message.
Warning.
Error message.
The options that can be executed in the journal tab or section include:
Open – this option is used open the folder containing the journal log files. Executing this command also saves the current journal entries in the log files, with names corresponding to the date of journal creation.
Copy – used to copy the row information.
Send – used to send the log file to an admin through the internal mailing system.
Viewer – opens up a new window to display log files.
Clear – this option is used to delete the log files from the journal tab, but not from the computer.
